1.         The rough shape is excavated. This picture shows a 'berm' edge that will hold the flagstone and rockwork around the edge of the pond. Wood bender-board is set with wood stakes and a laser or 'transit level’ insures a level waterline. Note the vertical sides and plant shelves.
